Super Mario 3D All-Stars Reached No.2 On September NPD

By Todd BlackOctober 17, 2020

Earlier in the year, it was rumored that Nintendo was going to go all-out for the 35 anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, the franchise that helped launch Nintendo in many ways. And sure enough, they did, as they announced apparel, special games like Super Mario 35, and the centerpiece of the celebration, Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

This bundle pack contained Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, three very important Mario titles for various reasons, and fans were very curious to see how they would play on the Switch. Sure enough, the games were great and brought back some serious nostalgia. And not surprisingly, Super Mario 3D All-Stars sold VERY well in the US.

The NPD numbers revealed that Super Mario 3D All-Stars was the second best-selling title in the US behind only the multi-platform Avengers title that also released that month. But, to put its sales in a better context…

That’s VERY impressive, and proof that the Mario franchise, whether it be new games or classic games, are REALLY going to sell. Though it should be noted that this title is only going to be around for a limited time until March of next year (at present), so if you want to get it, order it now!
