Robert Pattison’s ‘The Batman’ delayed to 2022, ‘Dune’ also delayed

The Batman Review

Let’s file this under what did you expect

Ah, COVID-19, the slayer of dreams has pushed back yet another movie. This time it’s the upcoming Robert Pattison ‘The Batman‘, which was originally slated to be released on October 1st, 2021. Now the film is being delayed by five months and will now see a March 4th, 2022 release date. And that’s if it doesn’t get delayed again, which for the record marks the second time the film has hit a snag.

For those who haven’t been following The Batman, Robert Pattison is taking up the cowl, previously worn by Ben Affleck. The Batman will take a different path and will take place during the hero’s earlier crime-fighting days, as he takes on the Riddler. Nothing from the previous DCEU movies will be connected, so don’t expect to see any cameos.

As far as delays are concerned, this is the new norm. We’ve seen several high profile movies being delayed until 2021, with a number of them pushed back to 2022. So seeing The Batman being delayed until 2022 wasn’t unexpected and it was something that several of us here had expected to happen.

The Batman isn’t the only film that’s been delayed this week either, as ‘Dune’ is now scheduled to hit theaters this December 18th, 2020. Now the film won’t see the light of day until October 1st, 2021. Again, don’t expect any movies that were slated for release in the upcoming 4-5 months to actually be released. As more theaters are shutting down, and studios refusing to release them to digital streaming services or VOD, many eager anticipated films will just continue to have their dates adjusted.
