EA Confirms the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remaster is Real

By Keith MitchellOctober 5, 2020

EA Games is confirming that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which originally was released on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC is getting a remaster. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 6th, followed up with the Switch version on November 13th, 2020.

Over this past weekend, we started seeing rumors and possibly some concrete evidence that EA was planning on releasing a remaster. However, this also happened for another Need for Speed title, which ended up being nothing. As such we wanted to be sure this was actually the case this time.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will feature enhanced visuals, cross-platform play, and the return of EA’s Autolog – a feature that tracks what you do in-game and handles the multiplayer duties. All of the previous DLC’s for the game will also be included in the remaster, including several car packs, six hours of gameplay, and more than 30 new challenges. That’s not all, as EA is adding in some new content as well; new achievements, car colors, reduced hard stops, an updated photo mode, multiple quality of life updates, and car customizations with the addition of car wraps.

Criterion Games is also returning to work on this remastered version, as they worked on the original version as well. They’ll be handing the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions, while Stellar Entertainment will handle the Nintendo Switch port. This is the same studio that also worked on the Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Switch.

Now that they’re working on this, I’m hoping they’ll consider also giving Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit II the remastered business as well. A game which I felt was a worthy follow-up to the original game.

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one of my favorite racing games of all time. But what about you? Are you excited about the news? Let us know in the comments.
