Being a fan of the series that I am, of course, I pre-ordered the game. Yes, the Digital Deluxe Edition, and yes I know I’m hopelessly addicted, I can’t help myself.
That said, I’m not too thrilled about these items being provided. Being a long time fan of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne… you get the idea, it sort of cheapens the experience. I wasn’t a fan of this when Bandai Namco did this for Dark Souls II and I still don’t like the practice. Get your gear the old-fashioned way, by finding it or being rewarded in-game. It’s part of the experience and just going “hey, here’s some loot to get you started” just doesn’t sit right with me. Then again, I am a purist to these sorts of games.
Demon’s Souls releases alongside the PlayStation 5 when it releases on November 12, 2020, in North America.
