Demon’s Souls on the PS5 is getting the digital deluxe treatment

Looks like Demon’s Souls for the PlayStation 5, which also happens to be a launch title, is getting the digital deluxe treatment.

Over on the PlayStation website, a new listing for Demon’s Souls Digital Deluxe Edition has appeared. Priced at $89.99, which is $20 more than the standard edition, this digital edition also includes several in-game items.

  • Full game
  • Legendary Hero Soul
  • Renowned Warrior Soul
  • Storied Warrior Soul
  • Red-Eye Knight Armor
  • Boletarian Royalty Armor
  • Ritual Blade
  • Hoplite Shield
  • Ring of Longevity
  • Preservation Grains
  • Phosphorescent Grains
  • Bearbug Grains
  • Large Hardstone Shard
  • Moonlightstone Shard
  • Original soundtrack

Being a fan of the series that I am, of course, I pre-ordered the game. Yes, the Digital Deluxe Edition, and yes I know I’m hopelessly addicted, I can’t help myself.

That said, I’m not too thrilled about these items being provided. Being a long time fan of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne… you get the idea, it sort of cheapens the experience. I wasn’t a fan of this when Bandai Namco did this for Dark Souls II and I still don’t like the practice. Get your gear the old-fashioned way, by finding it or being rewarded in-game. It’s part of the experience and just going “hey, here’s some loot to get you started” just doesn’t sit right with me. Then again, I am a purist to these sorts of games.

Demon’s Souls releases alongside the PlayStation 5 when it releases on November 12, 2020, in North America.
