Japanese YouTubers among the first to get access to the PlayStation 5

By Keith MitchellSeptember 23, 2020

Sony and PlayStation are starting to let the media and influencers try out the PlayStation 5 hardware, starting with several YouTubers in Japan from Sept. 24 – Oct. 4th, 2020.

While Microsoft and Xbox have had several hands-on events and getting the Xbox Series X into the hands of several personalities and outlets, PlayStation has been quiet on that front. That is until today, as the company has announced “Try! PlayStation 5”, an event that will take place during the YouTube Gaming Week and will have several Japanese YouTubers getting direct access with the PlayStation 5, with them uploading their impressions on Oct. 4th, 2020.

Here are the lucky YouTubers who’ll get the very first hands-on of the console. Yes, I am a tad bit jealous.

We don’t know to what extent the coverage will be shown or what it will involve. But I’m really hoping we’ll finally get to see the UI of the PlayStation 5 in action. I wouldn’t mind seeing it playing some games either.

For now, this event is only in Japan, but with the PlayStation 5 launching in two months, I have to imagine that PlayStation will hold similar events in other markets. And if not in all of them, at least in their bigger markets. Either way, it will be interesting to see what the Japanese audience things about the PlayStation 5, especially the size of the console. Something that was always an issue for the original Xbox and again with the Xbox One (OG), outside of the gaming selection that is.

The PlayStation 5 will be released on November 12th, 2020, two days after the launch of the Xbox Series X/S consoles on November 10th, 2020.
