HOTAS support to be patched in for Star Wars: Squadrons on console

By Keith MitchellSeptember 11, 2020

While EA confirmed that HOTAS support would be available for the PC version of Star Wars: Squadrons, they were quiet regarding the PS4 and Xbox One versions.  Now we can confirm that HOTAS will be supported for the console version, thanks to an update that will be released on the same day the game launches.

This was confirmed by Ian S. Frazier, who served as Creative Director for Star Wars: Squadrons.

Good news, pilots!

As you may know, Squadrons supports HOTAS (throttle and joystick) controls on PC.

I'm happy to announce that we're adding HOTAS support to both PS4 and Xbox One as well, in a patch that will be available the moment the game goes live! :) #StarWarsSquadrons pic.twitter.com/cVbojAUknL

This great news that everyone will be able to take the fight to some rebel scum with HOTAS support on both consoles and at launch. It’s also worth mentioning that you’ll be able to use HOTAS with or without using VR on the PC or PS4.

Here are a few suggestions for HOTAS on both the PS4 and Xbox One. Mind you, some of my recommendations may not be in stock for various reasons.

PS4 – ThrustMaster T.Flight Hotas 4
PS4 – HORI PS4 HOTAS Flight Stick for PlayStation 4
Xbox One – Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas One
Xbox One – HORI Ace Combat 7 Hotas Flight Stick for Xbox One

Star Wars: Squadrons is slated for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 2nd, 2020. The game is compatible with the PSVR and all major PC headsets and will be playable on the Oculus Quest if you use the Oculus Link cable.
