Upcoming project from No Man’s Sky developer will be ‘huge, ambitious’ says founder

No Man's Sky

In an interview with Polygon, Sean Murray—founder and managing director at Hello Games—states that the studio is working on a title that will be ‘a huge, ambitious game like No Man’s Sky.’

While this quote might bring derision from those who remember the disastrous launch of No Man’s Sky, it bears mentioning that the game has since received a bevy of updates. It may not be the game most fans were expecting but No Man’s Sky has since carved out its own niche in the open-world survival genre.

Hello Games’ latest release, The Last Campfire, come out just last week and falls more in line with their release first release—Joe Danger—in terms of scope. Though, as stated later on in the interview, only 3 of the 26-strong studio worked on it. The rest of the team is either working on supporting No Man’s Sky or the untitled next project. The rest of the Polygon interview can be found here.

It’s a little concerning that Hello Games is working on another large-scale project but with the lessons learned from the development of No Man’s Sky plus the additional manpower, the team started out with just 6 people during the initial development of No Man’s Sky, they can hopefully deliver.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
