Battletoads set to release on Xbox and PC on August 20th

The Battletoads are back

After multiple teases of the revival of the cult classic Rare title, Battletoads, we’re finally getting a release date! Zitz, Rash, and Pimple make their return on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam on August 20th, 2020!

For this title, Rare has once again worked with Dlala Studios, the same company that they worked with on Sea of Thieves. However, Dlala Studios handled the development with Rare overseeing the game.

Unlike the original games, this time all three Battletoads will be able to get into the action with local co-op for up to three players. Sounds like a great time for a party game or just hanging out with your friends/family. This is giving me some vibes from other games such as Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and Castle Crashers. The trailer didn’t mention any online play, so that may not be an option.

Now, I will admit, the art direction is, well, it’s not what I was expecting. Yet we can’t hang on to nostalgia forever, and judging from what’s in the trailer, the new art style fits its exaggerated gameplay. I mean, have you looked that that trailer? This game looks like fun, and yes, it also has a hoverbike section.

Needless to say, as both someone who played the heck out of the original Battletoads game, as well as Battletoads vs Double Dragon (yes, that was a thing), I’m looking forward to this. We all could use more Beat ’em up, especially when we’re all stuck in our homes and this looks to fit the bill.

However, I do have one important question – Will it have that nifty pause screen music?

Battletoads releases on August 20th, 2020, for Xbox, Windows 10, and Steam. It’s also going to be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, in case you were wondering.
