Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 announced, Releasing July 2020[Updated]

By Keith MitchellJune 27, 2020

Update: When Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 was announced and it was mentioned it was releasing soon, I speculated it would be releasing this Summer. Well, it looks like I was correct as the official release date has been announced and it’s this July 2020. July 10th, 2020, to be exact.

That’s not all, as three more characters were announced, which brings the number of playable characters to seven! Miriam, Alfred, and Gebel, all from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night are also joining the game. Now I’m confused as exactly when this game takes place in the Bloodstained timeline. Oh well, as long as the game is awesome, I don’t care.

Lastly, a new trailer was released showing the additional characters and release date; July 10th, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. I can’t wait!

Original story below:

When the original Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon was released, it was viewed as an appetizer until the main course, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was released. Still, the game was an enjoyable slice, and now Inti Creates is keen on working on the follow-up to the game, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2. This was recently announced during the New Game Plus Expo that took place a few minutes ago.

While the original game was a short affair, the sequel has the makings a fully blown game. Not only is there a new story that takes place in the same universe, but also the ability to play as four different characters of which includes Zangetsu and three new characters; Dominique, Robert (Gunslinger), and Hachi. The latter is a mechanical monstrosity that seems to own Zangestu a favor, and yes that is the same Dominique from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

As shown in the trailer, you’ll be able to swap between characters via a button press and is reminiscent of the character swap system from Castlevania 3. As for Zangetsu, he’ll see an adjust from the first game and you won’t have to worry about powering him up as he’ll gain more abilities as the story progressing. [masterslider id=”387″]

Koji Igarashi is also back and is overwatching the progression of the game. It is his baby after all, and the spiritual successor to Castlevania. Speaking of Castlevania, this game looks like it was ripped right from the Nintendo Entertainment System. The sites look amazing and the chiptune music only serves to transport me back to my younger gaming games.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will release for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and the PC. There’s no announced release date, however, the trailer states the games coming soon. Hopefully, that means we’ll see a Summer 2020 release, which would be perfect.

Don’t forget to check out the official website here.
