2D action platformer COGEN: Sword of Rewind announced for PS4, PC and Switch

By Keith MitchellJune 6, 2020

There’s a new 2D side-scrolling action game called “COGEN: Sword of Rewind”, what was announced today for the PS4, PC, and Switch. The news hails from Indie Live Expo 2020, which took place earlier today.

The game is being developed by Gumdrops, a studio that I am not familiar with. According to Gemdrops, we’re looking at a 2020 release date or previously mentioned platforms.

Check out the trailer for this below.

This is giving me Azure Striker Gunvolt/ Inti Creates vibes. Except that Inti Creates isn’t involved with this, that I know of.

The rewind mechanic that we’ve seen in the trailer is also interesting, as it gives the player a chance to replay the last 3-seconds of gameplay, should you make a mistake. It’s not known how exactly this works, or how this is an automatic ability or if you can trigger it manually.

The soundtrack is being handled by Motoi Sakuraba, who is known for producing some amazing game tracks. I’m already looking forward to the soundtrack.

For more information on COGEN: Sword of Rewind, head on over to the official website.

Looks like I’m adding another game I need to keep an eye on for 2020. Does this look interesting to you? Let us know in the comments!
