Due to the ongoing turmoil that’s taking place in the United States of America, CD Projekt Red has decided to postpone its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 event, Night City Wire. Originally scheduled to take place on June 11, 2020, it has now been pushed back to June 25th, 2020.
We decided to move Night City Wire to Jun 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.

While that’s just a few weeks, it’s important to understand why the developer/publisher decided to delay the event. In light of the ongoing protests of police brutality, and systemic racism, the company has pushed back thier event so that more important and needed conversations can continue without distractions.
CD Projekt Red isn’t the only company to throw its support behind this movement either. They’re joined by Ubisoft, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and even PlayStation who also delayed its upcoming PlayStation 5 event which would have taken place this week, June 4th, 2020.

While I’m sure this delay will frustrate fans who were looking forward to the Night City Wire event, this was the right thing to do. There are some troubling events taking place across this nation, and this is just one way that companies are showing support with those who are protesting for a better future.
Cyberpunk 2077 is (still) scheduled to be released on September 17, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. There are also plans for an upgraded version for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It will also support Smart Delivery for the Xbox Series X. Meaning if you purchase the Xbox One version, you’ll be upgraded to the Xbox Series X version should you pick up the console.
I can’t say enough about Cyberpunk 2077. While I’ve yet to have any direct hands-on with the game, I’ve been a fan of the Cyberpunk genre for a while now. Ever since I laid eyes on the Konami’s cult-classic Snatcher, as well as others such as Shadowrun, Deus Ex, System Shock, just to name a few. I can’t forget to mention one of my favorite anime series of all time, Ghost in the Shell, which is heavy on the Cyberpunk.
All of which is why I’m looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 as it just feels like the modern progression of those games/anime. The release date can’t get here soon enough.
