Boba Fett and Bo-Katan Join ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2

By Sara Roncero-MenendezMay 13, 2020

In terms of early successes, Disney+ biggest is The Mandalorian, a show in the Star Wars Universe that follows a bounty hunter and the strange trials he goes through. Now, we’ve learned about two new familiar faces he’ll see along the way in Season 2: Boba Fett and Bo-Katan.

If you’ve never heard of Boba Fett (and I would be genuinely surprised if you hadn’t), he’s a Mandalorian bounty hunter who appears in the original trilogy of Star Wars movies as antagonist. We find out in subsequent movies, TV shows, and books that he is a clone of his “father” Jango Fett and that he is one of the most formidable foes in the galaxy. Even though he died a lame death via pit-monster. He will be played on the show by Temuera Morrison.

If you’re not familiar with the character, Bo-Katan is a Mandalorian who fought to save the planet Mandalore from the Empire and wields the darksaber. Yes, that is basically a lightsaber but it is a blade of pure darkness (and frankly, it’s pretty badass) Katee Sackhoff, who was the voice of Bo-Katan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, will play the character. And if you think her name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s also been on another massive sci-fi franchise, Battlestar Galactica.

There are still rumors abound that Rosario Dawson (who has been hired for the season but in a yet unnamed role) will play Ahsoka Tano. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Bo-Katan’s inclusion might be a hint that this rumor is true after all.

The Mandalorian Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in October 2020.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
