The Long Awaited Finale of Bleach

By Cole EckerleMarch 18, 2020

Fellow Bleach fans, our dreams are finally coming true! After eight years of waiting, Bleach is finally returning to wrap up the series. With the bombshell being dropped by, A.I.R (Anime Intelligence (and) Research) on Twitter, it has been officially confirmed that the anime adaptation will be covering the Thousand-Year Blood War arc which I’m sure many (like myself) are incredibly excited for!

For those who may not be aware, Bleach stopped airing back in 2012 with the final story arc of the manga never receiving an anime adaptation. Seeing how the Bleach Manga began in 2001, it is highly likely our long-awaited season finale will air next year in 2021 for its 20 year anniversary. I’m very annoyed we didn’t get this adaptation sooner seeing as the manga was brought to a close back in 2016, but hey – better late than never I suppose.

To begin wrapping up on this incredible news, the question of which studio which will be in charge of this adaptation is yet to be announced. Hopefully, we can see the return of Studio Pierrot, the same studio who animated the original Bleach years ago. If perchance it is a new studio, they’ll have a lot to live up to. I for one wouldn’t be surprised if they did a 180 on the animation and prettied everything up similar to Fruit Basket’s 2019 remake.

More information on plans for this final season of Bleach will be made during the Bleach 20th Anniversary Livestream which will be streaming on March 20 at 8:45 p.m. EDT.
