Netflix Renews ‘Lost in Space’ for Third and Final Season

By Sara Roncero-MenendezMarch 10, 2020
LOST IN SPACE

Netflix’s reboot of the classic sci-fi series Lost in Space has been a huge hit, but like all good things, it has to end sometime. And it turns out, sometime is in 2021 with its third and final season, as announced on the show’s Twitter page:

The show will be back on the streaming service for a third season but it will be its last. Don’t worry though, the show’s creative team promises that it will wrap up all storylines and give the show a satisfying ending.

“From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy. A three part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end. It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode— if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission— it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith…and the Robot. And of course, Debbie the Chicken,” said showrunner Zack Estrin in a statement. “So while this chapter of Lost In Space is coming to a rousing conclusion, I’m excited about continuing to explore new stories with my friends at Netflix, and for all of the incredible possibilities that lie ahead.”

If you watched last season, the show left out with a major cliffhanger, so it’s good that they will be able to resolve it. Still, for fans of the show, the ending coming so soon might be a hard pill to swallow, especially given all of the plat development that happened last season.

Lost in Space Season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2021.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
