Nvidia to debut 360Hz gaming monitors during CES 2020

By Keith MitchellJanuary 6, 2020
Nvidia 360Hz gaming monitors

While monitors catered towards gamers have already sported both 120Hz and 240Hz refresh rates, Nvidia looks to turn the game on its head with monitors capable of 360Hz. Talk about life in the fast lane.

While CES 2020 has just started, Nvidia announced monitors that are going to blow gamers away. While the company hasn’t shown off the monitor as of yet, we should be able to see them throughout the show.

With the faster refresh rate, the goal here is to provide an image faster than previously available. As someone who’s played around with a 240Hz monitor, I thought that was already plenty fast. So I can’t even imagine how much faster these new monitors will be.

Currently, we only know of one monitor that will include this new technology, the ASUS ROG Switch 360, a 24.5-inch monitor. There wasn’t any mention of the resolution, so I’m wondering if this means it will be limited to 1080p. Currently, all 240Hz monitors have been 1080p monitors, while 1440p monitors have limited to 166 Hz – with some exceptions. Those being the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG35VQ and the Acer PREDATOR X35 bmiphzx, both being G-Sync Ultimate monitors and priced well over $2000.

Update: Thanks to Linus Tech Tips, we can see the ASUS monitor in action.

Designed for Esports Pros—the ASUS ROG Swift 360
Developed in conjunction with NVIDIA, the ASUS ROG Swift 360 is specifically designed for esports competitions and features a 24.5-inch form factor to keep every pixel of action in the field of view. The ASUS ROG Swift 360 features ASUS’s new sleek ROG finish that feels at home on the grand stage at any esports event as well as:

  • Blistering Fast Refresh Rate: 360Hz delivers crystal clear visuals, extremely low system latency for faster reaction times, and the smoothest motion to keep pros on target.
  • Designed for Esports: Play how the pros do and never miss a critical moment with the highest performance 24.5 inch Full HD display.
  • Superior Clarity: No distracting tearing, stuttering, flicker, or artifacts with NVIDIA G-SYNC VRR technology.
  • Quality Certified by NVIDIA: All G-SYNC certified displays undergo a rigorous validation process and are subjected to 300 image quality tests to ensure they deliver consistent quality and maximum performance.

Now, if only I could get a chance to check out these monitors in person, as I am not attending CES 2020 this year. Hopefully, we’ll see these in stores soon or other events throughout the year.
