Ubisoft animated shows based on their IPs are in the works

By Henry BuehlerOctober 11, 2019

Ubisoft is getting a slew of animated shows, according to an exclusive with Hollywood Reporter.

Multiple Ubisoft IP’s including Rayman, Watchdogs, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, and Hungry Shark set to received animated adaptations. Their long-running cartoon based on the Rabbids from Rayman, Rabbids Invasion is first to receive a new special set on Mars after a successful three seasons.

Each show was created to aim for different audiences and demographics with Hungry Shark Squad-based on their mobile game Hungry Shark and an unnamed comedy series based on Rayman appealing to younger, family-friendly audiences.

Additionally, an unnamed show based on Watchdogs has been reworked for “tweens” with the premise of solving “cyber mysteries”. Based on the art, it could be similar to shows like Code Lyoko or ReBoot: The Guardian Code where teenage characters go into a “cyber-world” to fight and unravel intrigue.

Lastly, there’s Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe– their most mature animated series which is being made in a partnership with the Netflix Castlevania producer, Adi Shankar. The series was also stated to form a multiverse with other Ubisoft titles.

Ubisoft Television and Film Paris’ managing director, Helege Juguet, also stated that they were working on an animated sketch comedy show based on video game culture and that there is an “incubator” team with the task of bringing games to other media. More creative projects outside of video games seem very certain in the future considering Ubisoft’s push towards animated projects and the Assassin’s Creed movie from 2016.
