Switch version of Children of Morta delayed until Nov. 15th

While Children of Morta is finally being released for the PS4 and Xbox One on October 15th, 2019 The Switch version has hit a snag and has been delayed. Its new release date is November 15th, 2019.

According to the developer, Dead Mage, the Switch version isn’t where they’d like the game to be.

Spending 5 years creating a game is exhausting. Spending 5 years creating a game and then having to delay it — that’s just brutal — but when you’re aiming for excellence and you know it’s within your grasp, you just do it. And that is exactly the case with Children of Morta for Nintendo Switch for us. Quality over anything else. The community of gamers may forgive us the delay but they won’t forgive us a game that is not working perfectly. As delivering the best performance is our highest priority, we are simply delaying the game to November the 20th.

There is no space for compromise in terms of quality. For gamers, it means a bit more of waiting time, for us – more hard work which we’re glad to make. Because in the end, we all have the same goal – a fantastic game.

This is the kind of thing that I’d rather developers and publishers would prioritize, instead of shipping a broken or unfinished game. The fact that Dead Mage would rather delay the game and put some more work into it, I appreciate that. Her’s to hoping the delay is worth the wait for Switch owners.

Originally a Kickstarter project, Children of Morta managed to raise over $100,000.00 in 2015. I helped back this game a few years ago and while the game has been delayed several times the game has been worth the wait. It’s currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 15th, and the Switch version this November 15th, 2019.
