Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops Survival Mode is a timed Playstation 4 exclusive

Here we go ahead folks, as Activision and Sony are up to their “Exclusive PS4 Content” nonsense, this time for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Recently, Activision made the gaming community aware that the Call all of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops Survival Mode is a timed Playstation 4 exclusive. It will remain as such until October 2020, which is likely when the next Call of Duty game will end up being released.

As you can imagine, this news didn’t sit well with the fans of the game, especially the Xbox One and PC players.

Interesting enough is that Taylor Kurosaki,  Infinity Ward’s narrative director, would try and downplay this like it’s a trivial matter. In a recent Twitter response, he stated he’d rather have everyone playing 99% of a game instead of 100% of one. Well, Taylor, how about not even making that decision a thing, is my response.

He also stated that this decision is well above his paygrade. Meaning this likely came down from the bosses at Activision. Which is exactly the kind of thing that forced Bungie to part ways with Activision.

Up to you, I respect your decision. We do our BEST every day to give our players the best experience possible. There are decisions that are above all of our pay grades that have to be considered. I understand your feelings, but this is much better than others I have seen.

The thing that bothers me, is the same thing that it’s always been. Players on all platforms pay the same amount for the game. Yet we constantly end up with content that’s made exclusively for one platform or another. For what reason would a company make a portion of a game exclusive for another platform, a 3rd party game at that? Well, other than greed.

In the grand scheme of things, despite people complaining about it now, you know once this game drops that everyone is going to pick it up. Similar to the boycott of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3 going Epic Games Store exclusive. Which only goes to show companies that you can piss off the gamers and they’ll eventually forgive you.

As for me, I already received a code for the game when I purchased a new video card. So I’m also affected by this, and also saddened that we’re back to this. I can’t say I won’t be playing the game, but when I do it will be strictly for the single-player experience.

Exclusive to October 2020, my ass.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25, 2019, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Which platform are you picking the game for? Sound off in the comments below!
