GhostWire: Tokyo Creative Director Leaves Tango Gameworks

By Henry BuehlerSeptember 4, 2019

Ikumi Nakamura, the creative director of GhostWire: Tokyo, announced on Twitter today that she will be leaving Tango Gameworks and Zenimax, thus stepping down from her position on the development team of the highly anticipated horror title.

After 9 years as Creative director & Art Director at Tango and Zenimax – I felt here is one of ends of the journeys . I learned from the talented people I've worked with and I respect. 🙏😊 Contact me if anyone wants to work with me! → https://t.co/4VKLdY2ejl pic.twitter.com/Hbsuta3Rgo

Ikumi impressed the public least E3 with her bubbly personality and passion. She’s also an industry veteran who has spent years working on art for classic games like Okami and Bayonetta, working at both Capcom and Platinum respectively.

She was also the lead concept artist for The Evil Within and studied under horror game legend, Shinji Mikami, as his apprentice. While her experience is mostly doing background art and character designs, this would have been a more involved directorial role for her.

Sadly not much has been shown off of GhostWire: Tokyo, but the trailer shows off a beautifully rendered modern Japanese city and an oni mask-wearing villain who seems to be behind mysterious disappearances.
