Super Mario Maker 2 Sold 2.4 Million Units In First 3 Days

By Todd BlackJuly 30, 2019
Super Mario Maker 2

2019 has been an interesting year for the Nintendo Switch so far. It started out big with games like Super Mario Bros U Delux and Yoshi’s Crafted World, but then April and May were pretty dry from a 1st party standpoint. But, everything changed (for the better) by the end of June, when Super Mario Maker 2 came out. Despite some controversies about online play (which they promised to fix via update), the game was very much-hyped, and early reviews put it as a near-perfect title.

Now, via the most recent Nintendo financial briefing, we know that in just its first three days on the market, Super Mario Maker 2 sold 2.4 million copies. Again, that’s just in the first three days, which is impressive by every stretch of the imagination.

This adds yet another million-seller to the Switch’s already incredible best-selling lineup, which continues to grow and evolve with every big title release. Including Fire Emblem Three Houses, which is apparently already doing great sales. No numbers on that game just yet.

Super Mario Maker 2 has been making a big splash online as well via the amazing courses that players have been putting online. So with this success (plus the knowledge that it’s likely sold over 3-4 million by this point), it’s not unlikely that Super Mario Maker 3 will be coming eventually.
