‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot Trailer Shows Us an Expanded Angels Network

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJune 27, 2019

When they announced a Charlie’s Angels reboot, I have to admit I was kind of excited. As cheese-tastic as the original show and later the movies were, they always hit that sort of guilty-please-happy-place for me, watching kickass ladies on a mission. And we get to see our three new Angels in action with the first trailer for the reboot:

For the Angels, we have Kirsten Stewart as Sabina, Ella Balinska as Jane, and Naomi Scott as Elena, who is a systems engineer turned Angel during the course of the film. The best part is, of course, Sir Patrick Stewart as Bosley, because he usually is the best part of anything he’s in. However, he is only one of four Bosleys, which also include the film’s director and writer Elizabeth Banks, Djimon Hounsou, and Sam Clafin. Noah Centineo  of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before fame is also here as Langston, who works in a lab of some kind and might be the new love interest.

We’ve already seen in the early 2000s run of the films that Charlie has had multiple teams of Angels, so this could be building off the films and TV show. In fact, in the closet scene, I think I spied the milk maid dresses that Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu wore in one of the films. The official synopsis also acknowledges that there are multiple teams working for the Townsend Agency, hence why there are multiple Bosleys. Some of the cheese from the original still appears to be there, with the outrageous costumes and a dance off, but it also looks just as action focused as the movies which is great too. Not sure how I feel about the original song they have in the trailer by Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana del Ray (which, weird combo honestly).

Charlie’s Angels is set to premiere in theaters on November 15, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
