Battlefield V Finally Introduces Pacific Theater, New Maps

By Diego PerezJune 8, 2019
Battlefield V

EA Play 2019 is underway, and with it comes a ton of updates on EA titles, and Battlefield V is no exception. Battlefield V is getting a bunch of new maps and a huge update this fall alongside its Chapter 5 update.

Two new maps are coming to Battlefield V. The mountainous Marita, which is more focused on infantry combat rather than vehicles. The many cliffs allow for open, vertical firefights. Al Sundan, which takes its setting from one of Battlefield V‘s single-player campaign, is a more classic Battlefield map, with wide open areas, tight urban centers, and even an airfield. Al Sundan will be available at the launch of Chapter 4 on June 27, while Marita will be available in July. A reimagining of the fan-favorite map Operation Metro entitled “Operation Underground” is also coming to Battlefield V in October. A few other maps were mentioned, including one set in France, but not much was shared about them. They will be smaller maps with a focus on small-scale infantry combat rather than sprawling conquest type maps.

A handful of gameplay updates were revealed as well. The max rank will be increased from level 50 to level 500. Every rank past 50 will award Company Coin, but at certain “milestone ranks,” players will receive new rank icons and special commemorative dog tags. The level cap will be increased sometime in August. Private servers are making a return to the Battlefield series, but will now be free for anyone to start.

Chapter 5 will be the largest update to Battlefield V yet, introducing the Pacific Theater. The U.S. and Japan will finally be brought into the game, alongside a huge array of new maps, weapons, and vehicles. Classic Battlefield maps like Iwo Jima will see a return to the series, as will iconic World War 2 weaponry like the M1 Garand and the BAR. Three maps will launch alongside the Pacific Theater in Chapter 5. As the developers wanted to capture the invasion experience, amphibious vehicles will play a large role in each of the new maps.

Chapter 4 will launch on June 27, and the highly anticipated Chapter 5 will launch sometime this fall.
