Dauntless Arrives On The PS4 And Xbox One On May 21, 2019. PC Version Shifts To The Epic Games Store As Well

By Keith MitchellMay 13, 2019
Dauntless players at the ready

It’s been a long time coming, but Phoenix Labs has finally announced that Dauntless will be available for consoles later this month.

Fulfilling their promise, both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will be able to experience a completely different monster hunting game as of May 21, 2019.  This release will also include all the updates and improvements that went into the PC version of the game. Yep, the brand new mastery system that was recently released on the PC is also coming over to the consoles. For those who haven’t played Dauntless in a while, the mastery lets players burn up on their skills, earn experience, unlock achievements, and acquire new rewards. Each Behemoth and weapon has its own unique Mastery card for players to delve into.

That’s not all as the upcoming Dauntless Hunt Pass Season 5: Hidden Blades, which brings in the Moon Blossom Festival and Thematic Gear for hunters. As well as new content that everyone will be able to work through, no matter their skill level. Check out more information on the hunt pass, here. This hunt pass is priced at $10.

However, that’s not all. In addition to the console versions, Dauntless will be migrating over to the Epic Games Store. This was announced earlier this year, as Phoenix Labs is moving from their own launcher and using Epic Games Store launcher instead. However, from my understanding, once May 21st rolls around, they will be retiring their standalone launcher. It still isn’t completely clear, so we’ve reached out to them for clarification and will update this article when we get an answer. Now, before you bash EGS, let’s talk about why the game is moving. According to the developer, the move will allow them to take advantage of not only a friends system (is that even in EGS at the moment?) but also cross-team chat and invites and possible cross-play. That last bit is important as Dauntless will support cross-play between the PC and Xbox One. While Sony seems to be dragging their feet on the cross-play push, yet again. It’s a good move and one I see zero issues with.

So, Dauntless on the PS4, Xbox One and the shift to the Epic Games Store on May 21st, 2019. For those still wondering about the Switch version, Phoenix Labs has stated they still have plans for this. More to come on that in the future.

Looks like I’ll be diving back into Dauntless so I can check out all the new changes. I’ll be honest, it’s been a while since I played the game. Mostly due to another title that I won’t mention, but I’m sure you can figure out the name on your own.
