Which Version Of Mortal Kombat 11 Should You Pick Up?

By Keith MitchellApril 22, 2019
Mortal Kombat 11_1280x720

With WB Games and Netherrealm Studio’s Mortal Kombat 11 releasing tomorrow for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Switch. Chances are you’re pondering on which edition of the game you should pick up. We know you’re thinking about this because we’re in the same boat.

So there’s where this little guide comes in handy. We’ve provided not only the different editions of the game but also what each version provides. That way you can decide which one is best for you, oh, and your hard earned money. This applies to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions.  Also, keep in mind that if you want to pick up the game digitally on the PlayStation 4, then your only option is the PlayStation Network. Sony updated its policy worldwide, only allowing full versions of digital games to be sold on their store. It sucks, we know, but they make the rules.

Lastly, today is the last day to pre-order and score access to Shao Khan. He’s currently only available via pre-order and it has been mentioned if he’ll be made available afterward. Don’t miss out.

Mortal Kombat 11 Standard Edition – $59.99

Available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Includes a copy of the game and that’s it. For those who pre-ordered will also receive access to Shao Kahn. Currently, he’s only available via pre-order.

Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition – $99.99

Includes everything from the standard edition. Also is only available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Switch was mentioned and spotted before. But as of now, the Switch misses out on this one. The Premium Edition includes access to the Kombat Pack and steelbook case if you pick up the physical edition.

The Kombat Pack includes:

    • Six new DLC playable characters, released over time
    • One week early access to DLC characters, exclusive to Kombat Pack owners
    • Seven exclusive Character Skins
    • Seven exclusive sets of gear

There hasn’t been any mention on how much the Kombat Pack will be separate.

Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition – $299.99

Then there’s the Kollector’s Edition, which is only available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s also exclusive to Gamestop and if you haven’t pre-ordered one, chances are it’s all sold out. This thing is also ridiculously priced, that only true fans of the Mortal Kombat series would dare to covenant this.

Everything from the premium edition is included in this edition, plus a 1:1 replica bust of Scorpion’s mask.

Now that you know about the different versions, which are you picking up? As for us, it looks like the PlayStation 4 version is the way to go. Sure, I usually play on PC, but I need to go where the competition and my friends are. We’ll see you online, tomorrow!
