My Hero Academia is Becoming a Monopoly Board Game

By Josh PiedraApril 3, 2019
Monopoly

Monopoly has had several special editions over the years and My Hero Academia will soon be joining the ranks!

This version of Monopoly looks to simulate battles between the students at UA Academy by replacing all of the real estate spaces with characters from the anime. Houses and hotels are replaced with Rewards and Trophies and rather than “buying” each character, you are sponsoring them. You sponsor them with Hero Points rather than the traditional currency and the Chance and Community Chest cards have been replaced with Go Beyond! and Plus Ultra! cards.

In essence, the terminology changed to fit the theme of the anime but the principle of the game is exactly the same as it has always been. The game will also come with six unique game tokens:

  • Eraserhead’s Visor
  • Kacchan’s Grenade Glove
  • Deku’s Mask
  • Dummy Bomg
  • Shigaraki’s Hand
  • UA Sigil

The game is rated for ages 8 and up and supports 2-6 players. The game will retail for $39.95 but a firm release date has not yet been set.

The official website describes the board game as follows:

Build your hero team in MONOPOLY: My Hero Academia! Make your way across the board choosing between Class 1-A’s best and brightest, including fan favorite students and teachers. Draw from Go Beyond! and Plus Ultra! decks to advance your team, but make sure to avoid Detention!
