Marvel Returns to the Podcast Market With ‘Wolverine: The Lost Trail’

By Sara Roncero-MenendezFebruary 20, 2019

Marvel is always looking for new ways to engage with fans, including podcasts. For those who are not in the know, they first released Wolverine: The Long Night last year. Now, we’re getting a sequel called Wolverine: The Lost Trail.

Here’s the official synopsis of the new show:

Marvel’s “Wolverine: The Lost Trail” is an epic quest that takes place in the Louisiana bayou. Following the events of Marvel’s “Wolverine: The Long Night,” Logan (Richard Armitage) returns to New Orleans in search of redemption, only to discover that his ex-lover, Maureen is nowhere to be found. And she’s not the only one. Dozens of humans and mutants have gone missing, including the mother of a teenage boy, Marcus Baptiste. With Weapon X in close pursuit, Logan and Marcus must team up and follow a trail of clues that leads them deep into the gothic heart of the bayou, where they encounter biker gangs, Cajun thieves and a world of wonders that defies explanation. It is here that they find Greenhaven — a backwater refuge run by a powerful mutant named Jason Wyngarde.

In the trailer we hear Wolverine leave several desperate voicemails for Maureen, and ends up going to New Orleans to find her. We hear Gambit, another X-Men team member, is involved somehow, along with newcomer Marcus Baptiste who can hear whispers, and a strange place called Greenhaven.

Most likely, the show will follow the same release schedule as the first, where the show will be available on Stitcher Premium, a paid podcast service, for about a half a  year before going to Apple Podcasts, Google Play and the other free services.

Having listen to the first show (after it came out for free) I have to say that Armitage is a good Wolverine (though we don’t get much of him), and it was written well. There was definitely a slog in the middle that resulted in a long break for me, so hopefully this narrative will be a little tighter and sharper.

Wolverine: The Lost Trail premieres on Stitcher Premium on March 25, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
