As of December 31st, 2018, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 32 million units worldwide. And one of the biggest reason for all of those sales is that the Switch has a plethora of big-name titles both from 1st and 3rd party developers. Breath of the Wild, Octopath Traveler, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and more line the system, and in 2019, it seems like the Switch is going to have another great software year. Perhaps even more than we realize.
Leaker Emily Rogers (who does have credibility with some of her leaks) took to the internet to reveal some things that she has found out about nintendo and the Switch for 2019. And according to her, across both main titles, digital-only titles, and Wii U ports, there are 12 unannounced Nintendo Switch games coming this year (barring delays obviously).
In her report, she lists four of them as “mystery games”, three of them as Nintendo eShop only titles (which could be something special as they have done that in the past to great success, like with Capcom’s Phoenix Wright series), two of them are Wii U ports in her estimation, and one is a new Nintendo Labo kit. If you’re counting, that gets us to 10. The other two are Retro’s mystery project that they’ve been working on for years (unless as she notes it was scrapped), and the other is the long-rumored Metriod Prime Trilogy for Switch.
Another thing she noted is that Bayonetta 3 isn’t the only game that Platinum Games is working on for Switch, which would line up with what Platinum has said in the past.
Rogers herself has admitted in her statements that some of them have a higher opportunity of being real than others, but she sticks by her statements.
We’ll just have to see what comes to the Nintendo Switch, and whether the rumored Nintendo Direct for this week arrives and sheds light on her guesses.
