Double Or Nothing Ticket Party Recap

By Todd BlackFebruary 7, 2019
Double Or Nothing All Elite Wrestling

All Elite Wrestling is trying to change the world. Because in their eyes, the world of wrestling in some parts is not fulfilling the potential that it could be. So, the group of Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and more came together with the backing of the Khan family to help make a new company that will do all it came to make wrestling truly Elite again. And tonight, they took their next step with the Double or Nothing ticket rally event.

Ironically though, the first announcement came BEFORE the event even started. Where they announced that they’re teaming up AAA, the premiere Lucha Libre wrestling brand in the world today. The General Manager of AAA talked about the arrival and exchanging of talent with/in AEW. And if this collaboration goes full force? All Elite Wrestling is going to get even bigger.

Moving on to the talent acquisitions, which were easily one of the biggest things about this Double or Nothing event, several new superstars were announced. Even more than the Jacksonville event last month.

In order, here are all the wrestlers that were revealed at the event:

Sonny Kiss (who you might know as XO Licious from Lucha Underground), Sammy Guevara (also from Lucha Underground and the current AAA Cruiserweight Champion), the tag team known as Best Friends (Trent Baretta and Chucky T), and Lucha Bros (Pentagon and Fenix who were teased in the latest Being The Elite).

Then, they transitioned to the women’s roster, where four new women were announced. Japanese superstars Yuka Sakazaki and Aja Kong were revealed, along with highly-desired free agent Kylie Ray and the “American Kaiju” Nyla Rose.

And though they didn’t say who, they did say that two members of the Chinese wrestling promotion OWE would be at Double or Nothing.

…what, you were hoping for someone else to be announced? Well good news. There was one more announcement…

Double Or Nothing

Yep, Kenny Omega was officially confirmed for All Elite Wrestling. Not only that, he is was noted to be the Executive Vice President of the promotion. Meaning that he, Cody, and the Young Bucks are ALL Executive Vice Presidents. Omega also apologized for all the hubbub about whether he would sign with AEW, he wanted to tell people beforehand, but the legality of his NJPW contract forbade him from doing that.

Adding that to the announcement of Jimmy Havoc from the recent “Road to Double or Nothing” video from The Elite, and that brings the roster to a surprisingly strong number, and more are obviously coming.

They did announce some match for the upcoming event. SCU will fight two of the OWE wrestlers. The Young Bucks will face the Lucha Bros. Hangman Page will fight Pac (who taunted Hangman via video package), and when Kenny came out, Chris Jericho was soon to follow. The two battled it out, and now it’s confirmed that the 2nd ever meeting between these two will arrive at Double or Nothing.

Finally, tickets for the event will go on sale next week, but you can get a pre-sale notice about the tickets by going to AllEliteWrestling.com and registering with them to ensure you know when it’s coming. Not so ironically, the site crashed multiple times during the event because many people were trying to get registered.

All in all, the Double or Nothing event was a major success. There was a big crowd, a lot of people were watching online, they revealed some big signings, and got some top free agents. While the event is still over 3 months away, many fans are pumped for what’s coming.
