New Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Reveals The Origin Of Sekiro And Reveals The Owl

By Keith MitchellFebruary 7, 2019
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice header

Well, it’s been a while since Fromsoftware released some new footage for their upcoming title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. So not only did we get a new trailer, but some narrative elements. Meaning we’ve got some insight into the story of the game. As we know, the protagonist of the game, lost his arm during a battle as he was trying to protect the young lord under his protection.

Now it would seem that we’re getting some back story of this character. While also explains why he is so determined to recuse this young lord. As their trailer opens, we see a young boy on what appears to be the aftermath of a recent battle. With the youngling retrieving weapons, likely to sell. He’s then approached by another person, who questions him while slicing him on the face with his blade. Leaving a gash on the left side of the boy. The very same gash that Sekiro carries, which means we’re seeing the origin of the character. This other person, we can assume is known as Owl. Who is the person who raised Sekiro, as well as trained him in the way of the Shinobi.

Pretty exciting stuff. It also goes to show that Fromsoftware is serious about providing a story that doesn’t require us to search the internet. A far less cryptic story, at least compared to their previous titles.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releases this March 22, 2019, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
