Exclusive Crackdown 3 Technical Test Arriving Today For Xbox Insiders

By Keith MitchellFebruary 7, 2019
Crackdown 3

Not sure how we missed this, but Microsoft sent word that a technical test, or beta which is the better word, is being released today for Crackdown 3. It will be exclusive to Xbox Insider members.

This The Wrecking Zone Technical Test will take place this Thursday, February 7. You’ll be able to install the game at 9 AM PST/ 12 PM EST and be able to jump into the game at 12 PM PST/3 PM EST.

The reason for this technical test is that the team behind the game wants to ensure that the multiplayer portion will be a smooth experience for everyone. A call which I firmly support. Especially since we’ve seen a number of games that are online and multiplayer focused, that result in a less than spectacular experience for everyone. The Agent Hunter game mode will be featured on the Blackout Zone map. There, combatants will need to score points by taking out opposing Agents and collecting their Badges.

There will be more modes made available throughout the weekend via Discord, Xbox Insider Hub, Facebook, and Twitter.

Not an Xbox Insider? Well, you can fix that really easily. Just download the Xbox Insider Hub from the Xbox One Store. Launch the app, head to the Insider Content section and download the Wrecking Zone: Technical Test.

Lastly and this is important that everyone does this. Partaking in a technical test or beta isn’t early access to a game. It’s a chance for you to report any issues, or provide feedback regarding your experience. You’re helping shape the game and I would hope that if you encounter an issue, that you report it.

Thoughts? I’m glad to see that Xbox is taking this seriously. Games that get released with a single player and multiplayer portion, tend to have unexpected issues when players venture online. And seeing that Crackdown 3 has been subject to more than a fair share of speculation and criticism, this test should not only help get any existing bugs and glitches sorted. But also to give those who have been itching for some hands-on with the game, a taste of what to expect.

Crackdown 3 releases on Feb. 15, 2019, for the Xbox One and Windows 10. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
