It’s Safe to Say Dragon Ball Super: Broly Was a Success

Dragon Ball Super

If you’re the type of person who likes numbers, Box Office Mojo has you covered when it comes to Akira Toriyama’s latest theatrical offering. Dragon Ball Super: Broly may be winding down its run in theaters here in the U.S. but it’s leaving with $30,031,318 of your cold, hard-earned cash.

If that number wasn’t impressive enough, after going through some currency conversions, addition, and other basic math; it was determined that the movie made over $100 million across the globe. These figures are as of February 3, 2019.

The movie released in Japan on December 14, 2018 and has earned 3,895,569,200 yen (~$35.4 million) and has sold 3,009,730 tickets in its native country alone in just 53 days. These numbers made it the highest-grossing film in the Dragon Ball franchise, beating out the previous record holder which was 2015’s Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F.

The movie released here in the U.S. on January 16 and became the third highest-grossing anime film in U.S. history behind 1999’s Pokemon: The First Movie and Pokemon: The Movie 2000 which earned $85.7 million and $43.7 million respectively.

The movie is not done, though. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is scheduled for release in Latin America, Southeast Asia, France, Italy, Kore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan with more countries and regions to be announced soon!
