Resident Evil 2 DLC Costumes And Soundtrack Swap To Be Sold Seperately

By Keith MitchellJanuary 15, 2019
Resident Evil 2

Previously we speculated that Capcom would eventually sale the Resident Evil 2 DLC costumes and swap soundtrack, due to the ESRB classification of the game. It was then that the game was stated to include microtransactions and everyone started to panic. However, we assumed it would be for the costumes and soundtrack, which are included in the deluxe version of the game. Turns out we were correct.

As noted by Resetera member “krg“, it was noticed that on the Microsoft store there are two links that would allow you to redeem codes in exchange for two specific downloads. Due to this being in the store, I guess we can confirm that this means that those who don’t pick up the deluxe edition would be able to pick up these items afterward.

The first link is for the Resident Evil 2 Extra DLC Pack, which contains everything provided in the deluxe edition of Resident Evil 2. As of now, you can’t purchase this, however, it does state that this will be available soon.

  • Leon Costume: “Arklay Sheriff”
  • Leon Costume: “Noir”
  • Claire Costume: “Military”
  • Claire Costume: “Noir”
  • Claire Costume: “Elza Walker”
  • Deluxe Weapon: “Samurai Edge – Albert Model”
  • Swap soundtrack

While the second link only provides the soundtrack for redemption. As for those wondering why someone would want to purchase an in-game soundtrack, this swap not only reintroduces the original music from the 1998 version. It also replaces the sound effects from the original version as well. Something fans of nostalgia or for someone who never played the game may want to check out.

Interesting enough, it does list the following on the store purchase. The way it is worded also gives the impression that this will be able to be purchased. Despite it currently saying that it won’t be sold separately.

Note: Choose Music version / effects in the menu to activate this content, which uses music and sound effects from the original version of Resident Evil 2 from 1998. This content is included in the Extra DLC Pack. No refunds will be offered for duplicate purchases.

Definitely good news for those who weren’t sure about the deluxe edition of Resident Evil 2. Or those who managed to get a nice discount on the regular version and were regretting the purchase. The only thing we don’t know is how much either DLC will be and I suppose we won’t find out until the game officially releases.

Resident Evil 2 Remake releases on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on January 25th, 2019.
