3 Million Copies Of Super Smash Bros Ultimate Sold In The US

By Todd BlackDecember 18, 2018
Super Smash Bros Ultimate World Of Light

The month of December has been dominated by Super Smash Bros Ultimate in numerous ways. Even before the game was released, fans were counting down the days until the title launched on the Nintendo Switch. But Nintendo didn’t stop it there. No, they revealed at The Game Awards a brand new character via the DLC content. Joker from Persona 5. And then when the game released, reports began to leak out about just how good the game was selling overseas in the UK and Japan.

And now, via Business Wire and a press release from Nintendo, we can officially say that in the first 11 or so days since launch in the United States, Super Smash Bros Ultimate has sold 3 million copies. That’s right, 3 million, just in the US, not including Japan (who had sold 1.2 million in the first couple days) and the UK (who noted that Ultimate was the fastest-selling Smash title…but didn’t give numbers).

So, when you add that all together, the sales figure for Ultimate is likely around 5 million sold, and it could be higher than that!

Ultimate is now officially the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch title, as well as the fastest-selling Smash Bros title in history. And it’s only going to get bigger, better, and more desired as the DLC characters keep getting announced.
