Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Revs Up Its Engine Once More

By Zachery PaikaiDecember 7, 2018
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

The PlayStation 1 kart racer featuring Crash Bandicoot and crew is making a return as the newly improved Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled; finding suitable parking on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. This fully-remastered title will power slide onto home consoles come June 21, 2019.

Catch a first-look down below:

Alongside some retreaded tires and new paint jobs come enhanced visuals kicked up a notch or two, plus online functionality. Online races, online leaderboards…and those glorious first place, champion trophies are all accounted for.

Something I managed to notice during the reveal trailer was the apparent ability to choose your karts. There’s a brief moment within the footage that showcased Crash behind the wheel of several different karts; a feature that was not present in the original title. These karts seem to be straight out of Crash Nitro Kart, another kart racer which released during the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube era.

Perhaps a few tracks from Crash Nitro Kart may appear somewhere down to road too, though we’ll just have to wait for further information in the meantime.

*Update*

There will indeed be additional karts and tracks that appeared past the original PlayStation 1 title. I peeped the official website for Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled and nabbed this bit of info:

Power slide to glory in additional karts and tracks from beyond the original game.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled launches on June 21, 2019, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

From the Hawaiian islands, Nanaue, the Prince of Sharks first appeared. This shark man was uncontested in terms of video game prowess. His notoriety of being a top-tier game wiz angered the envious locals and eventually forced Nanaue into exile. His hunger for competition and game knowledge grew as time past. This in tow, leads him to delve into the sea of writing and gaming culture.
