Metroid Prime Trilogy Coming To Nintendo Switch?

By Todd BlackDecember 4, 2018
Metroid Prime Trilogy

Metroid is a franchise that is beloved by many. And yet, in recent years, and console/handheld generations, the franchise has gotten the shaft. But, last year, that all started to change with the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 on Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS (which would release two months later). And now, a rumor is being circulated that the Metroid Prime Trilogy is coming back as well, but this time, for Nintendo Switch.

You can see the tweet that revealed this to the world below. Granted, it could be fake in terms of content (though he says he sourced it), but it honestly would make sense, and the tweeter explained why: The Game Awards.

The Game Awards have been a place recently where Nintendo has unveiled quite a lot. Last year, they unveiled not only the bundle of Bayonetta 1&2 on Switch, but also Bayonetta 3. So, having them announce the Switch version of the Metroid Prime Trilogy fits their MO. Not to mention, there’s a rumor going around that Metroid Prime 4 will make an appearance at the show.

If this is true, and even if it isn’t, having the trilogy on Switch would be a great way to boost attention to it. The Prime series is considered the best of the Metroid series outside of Super Metroid (and Fusion for those who played it), and it helped redefine the Metroid series. The Game Awards are on December 6th, we’ll see if this is true then.
