No Man’s Sky: Visions Update, Open your Eyes to a New Universe

Visions update (1.75) is looking to open your eyes to a more varied and more diverse universe within No Man’s Sky. The latest update will be available tomorrow, on Thanksgiving Day, and it’s absolutely free. Introducing new planetary biomes, more vibrant worlds, new fauna and flora, archaeology, salvaging, and just a better unique experience for would-be space explorers traveling across the cosmos.

Welcome anomalous planet biomes, the worlds you visit will now bear outlandish landscapes and structures to fulfill a sense of uniqueness along your journey. The universe, is a diverse place filled with subtle intricacies, after all, so the planets you encounter will now better express this. And these bizarre locales home equally bizarre creatures that have adapted and evolved to their environment… Keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife.

Aside from the new anomalous planet biomes, we have further new assets to help sprinkle flavor across the galaxy. Introducing new shades of both sky and grass, new types of water, atmospherics and further sky improvements, topped off with lovely rainbows that stormy weather conditions can now produce. And perhaps you’ll find a pot of gold at end of one of these gleaming rainbows, or some other form of valuable goodie.

Speaking of goodies, how about a souvenir for the road, maybe a mysterious artifact found on some exotic planet? If you happen to stumble upon an otherworldly object, you can claim it as your very own personal trophy. Which can then be displayed and rehoused at habitable bases to commemorate the many adventures you take part on within the universe of No Man’s Sky.

There are many other valuables and goodies to discover and possibly loot of course, such as the ancient bones of various alien lifeforms, salvageable parts of fallen satellites, or even crystal treasure hidden within hazardous storms. Crashed freighters which are now procedurally generated will also provide intrepid explorers with cargo, just make sure your multitool is at the ready. So go ahead and scavenge what you will, but remember, there are dangers lurking around some of these treasures.

You might scoff at the plant life on Earth and maybe overlook an idle boulder, but out in the vast universe, things aren’t always as they seem to be. The new flora sprouting up across galaxies are inherently dangerous; the unwary will easily be snared and the cautious rewarded. And sentient minerals, that are actually alien lifeforms, may take your mining session out on a scenic detour. These creatures aren’t really fond of being beamed by a heated, concentrated laser and will flee your attempts at mining. You’ll have to follow in pursuit if you really want to extract those runaway minerals.

Your voyage throughout the universe might call for the cooperative effort with other explorers. A new Community Research Mission will allow players to share progress and work towards a common goal. Discover the Visions universe together and unlock the Eye of the Korvax helmet, as well as new emotes, building parts, and celebratory fireworks. Teamwork makes the dream work here in No Man’s Sky folks.

Patch Notes: 

MISSIONS AND PROGRESSION

  • Fixed an issue where players could be prevented from earning a free freighter in the tutorial.
  • Allowed the Dreams of the Deep mission to detect if whether the Nautilon Chamber had been built nearby before the mission started.
  • Fixed an issue where missions that visited trade terminals could advance without their objective being completed.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented higher level Aeration Membrane upgrade modules from appearing in the Space Station tech shops.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Freighter Hyperdrive upgrade modules from appearing in the Space Station tech shops.
  • Fixed an issue where players could fail to learn the Living Glass blueprint at the correct time.
  • Fixed an issue where players could fail to learn the Exocraft Boost blueprint at the correct time.
  • NipNip blueprints can now be acquired from the Base farmer after their mission chain is complete.
  • Fixed an issue where NPCs awarding procedurally generated upgrade modules would select from an insufficiently random pool.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some doors + items that require Atlas Pass v1 from accepting v2 or v3.
  • Adjusted the behavior of wanted level timers, so that the wanted level decays as the timer does.

UI

  • Improved the appearance of the planetary readout from space.
  • Added a new section to the inventory item popup hinting at the item’s use.
  • Improved the visual feedback when collecting items, especially rare items.
  • Improved the text labels for armored objects.
  • Added a filter for “Not Owned” to the Quicksilver Shop.
  • Fixed an issue which would allow players to browse their existing fleet whilst purchasing a new frigate.
  • Fixed a rare case where certain game inputs could temporarily fail to be recognized if remapped then reverted to defaults.
  • Prevented an erroneous boost icon appearing while piloting the Nautilon (on PS4 and Xbox One).

BASES AND BUILDINGS

  • Fixed an issue preventing building multiples of storage container 1 (on PS4 and Xbox One).

PLANETS AND DISCOVERIES

  • Fixed an issue where extreme weather planets could fail to generate storms.
  • Improved the distribution of ammonia and uranium on toxic and radioactive planets.
  • Improved some analysis visor text descriptions.
  • Fixed an issue where the terrain manipulator could destroy valuable objects.
  • Fixed an issue where other players’ discoveries could prevent fauna and flora from being scanned with the analysis visor.
  • Added identifiable descriptors for all anomalous planet types.
  • Fixed an issue where resource crystals (eg Di-Hydrogen) could be rediscovered on every planet.
  • Fixed an issue where many minerals would be called Yukovsite.
  • Allowed the torch to be used when exploring crashed freighters.

VISUALS

  • Fixed an issue where the Exocraft customization colors could be incorrect until refreshed in the customizer.
  • Fixed a rendering issue with oversized fungi.
  • Fixed an issue where stationary objects could sometimes appear blurred.
  • Improved the draw distance on some exotic planet objects.

SYSTEM

  • Fixed some out of memory crashes.
  • Fixed a crash when quitting the game during a gesture.

No Man’s Sky: Vision update (1.75) launches tomorrow (11/22/2018) and will be completely free of charge. 

No Man’s Sky is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
