It seems like more and more date information is coming out about when new and exciting shows will be coming out. Unfortunately, the latest of these announcements is for the Netflix adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events‘s very last season:
For those who haven’t seen the show, it follows the Baudelaire siblings as they are shuffled from guardian to guardian after their parents’ gruesome deaths. They are chased by Count Olaf, a greedy and cruel man who is out for their inheritance. Along the way, they are helped by adults that belong to the VFD, a mysterious organization that their parents were involved with. All the while, the story is narrated by Lemony Snicket, a member of the VFD who chronicles their journey.
Each season has made a two-episode adaptation of each of the books in the series, so it’s no wonder that, eventually, we would hit the ending. The season will adapt the last four books of the series: The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End. Those first three will get 2 episodes each while the big finale will be one, longer episode. As the date announcement mentions, we should get the answers to all the real lingering questions of the show, like what the VFD really is and what really happened to the Baudelaire parents.
All of the main cast will be reprising their roles, along with some new additions to the cast. Among the new faces are Richard E. Grant as the Man with a Beard but No Hair, Beth Grant as the Woman with Hair but No Beard, Max Greenfield as Dewey Denouement, and Peter MacNicol as Ishmael.
Will this story end happily? Probably not, but the tale of the Baudelaires is coming to a close, and if you’re like me, you just can’t look away.
A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3 premieres on Netflix on January 1, 2019.
