Octopath Traveler Team Aiming To Bring Next Game Out Quicker

By Todd BlackOctober 28, 2018
Octopath Traveler Beginners Guide, Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent, Square Enix

While 2018 has been a bit quiet for premiere 1st party titles on the Nintendo Switch (aside from Pokemon Let’s Go and Super Smash Bros Ultimate coming out this holiday season), the 3rd party games have been coming out in force. And one of the biggest games of the year for Switch in regards to exclusive 3rd party was Octopath Traveler. This unique RPG mixed classic style with modern storytelling and a fusion of battle styles to create a truly unique title.

In fact, not only did we give it a 4.5/5 in our review, the game went on to sell over 1 million copies in just three weeks! The team at Acquire were thrilled with its success, and now, they’re off to the next game on their list…whatever that may be. But, in an interview Nintendo Dream, the team notes that they are eager to not just make the next game, but get it out in a much quicker fashion:

“With Bravely Default, Bravely Second and now, Octopath Traveler, we have been releasing approximately one game every three years or so. However, we are currently expanding our development team and we hope we can increase the pace of our releases moving forward! We’ll continue to make core RPGs specifically for fans of Square Enix RPGs all over the world. So, if you liked what you saw with Octopath Traveler, look forward to what we have in store for you in the future!”

What do you think is coming out next? A sequel to Octopath? A third game in the Bravely series? Or something entirely new? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
