Steins;Gate Elite Game Coming to North America

By Josh PiedraSeptember 27, 2018

It was announced by Spike Chunsoft that Steins;Gate Elite will be coming to North America on February 19. The game is slated for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Steins;Gate Elite is an upgraded version of the original Steins;Gate visual novel which was first released in Japan on October 15, 2009. Since then, the game received many ports around the world and can be found on Xbox 360, Steam, PSP, PS Vita, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android.

Steins;Gate Elite is replacing all of their still scenes with full animation, taken directly from the Steins;Gate anime along with newly-produced footage not yet seen to audiences. The animation is played together with the script with voice acting that reads the on-screen text.

In addition, the PlayStation 4 version of the game will include the Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram bonus content while all Nintendo Switch versions will include the Steins;Gate 8-bit Adventure, giving you reason to pick up both copies of the game if you are a completionist… or just really love Steins;Gate.

A limited edition of the game will be available in North America as well which includes a 100-age hardcover book that houses a collection of storyboards as well as an exclusive cloth poster.

The price of the standard edition is $59.99 and the limited edition will set you back $89.99. Pre-orders for the game are open now and Spike Chunsoft is touting that you can pre-order the game on Amazon.

Spike Chunsoft released trailers for both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game which you can find below:

MyAnimeList.net describes the story of Steins;Gate as follows:

The self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintarou Okabe rents out a room in a rickety old building in Akihabara, where he indulges himself in his hobby of inventing prospective “future gadgets” with fellow lab members: Mayuri Shiina, his air-headed childhood friend, and Hashida Itaru, a perverted hacker nicknamed “Daru.” The three pass the time by tinkering with their most promising contraption yet, a machine dubbed the “Phone Microwave,” which performs the strange function of morphing bananas into piles of green gel.

Though miraculous in itself, the phenomenon doesn’t provide anything concrete in Okabe’s search for a scientific breakthrough; that is, until the lab members are spurred into action by a string of mysterious happenings before stumbling upon an unexpected success—the Phone Microwave can send emails to the past, altering the flow of history.

Adapted from the critically acclaimed visual novel by 5pb. and Nitroplus, Steins;Gate takes Okabe through the depths of scientific theory and practicality. Forced across the diverging threads of past and present, Okabe must shoulder the burdens that come with holding the key to the realm of time.
