Forza Horizon 4 now available for pre-load; full game weighs in at 62GB

Pre-loaders, start your engines

The official Forza Twitter account sends word that Forza Horizon 4 is now available for pre-load, ahead of it’s October 2nd release date. Or, September 28, 2018, release date if you picked up the ultimate edition. Now you may be wondering why the pre-load is available nearly two weeks ahead of the game’s release date. Well, there’s a reason for that.

Thanks to the Microsoft store page, it seems that Forza Horizon 4 is weighing in a hefty 62.91 GB. So having those two weeks to get the game pre-loaded doesn’t seem so bad now. However, that’s far from being the largest game I’ve seen offered for the Xbox One and Windows 10. That honor still belongs to Forza Motorsport 7, which weighs in at nearly 100GB. On that note, my fellow PC gamers that are planning on installing this on an SSD. You’re going to have to pick up a bigger hard drive if you haven’t already done so. I recently picked up a 1TB SSDF myself and now that I know about the install size, I’m not so mad at myself anymore. Though I’m sure my wife still is.

Sorry, honey!

Yeah Forza Horizon 4 has puddles

As for worrying about the PC performance this time around, don’t. Thanks to the demo, I can safely say that we shouldn’t encounter the issues that we did with Forza Horizon 3. It definitely seems like Playground Games has done their homework, and the recently released demo confirms that. Runs as smooth as butter on all my PCs, which is something the previous game couldn’t do.

Forza Horizon 4 releases on Sept 28 via the ultimate edition and Oct 2nd for the standard and deluxe edition on Xbox One and Windows 10. I already have my copy pre-ordered, so I’ll see you all on the lovely roads of Britain.
