The first trailer for Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power shows up

By Keith MitchellSeptember 10, 2018

When Netflix and Dreamworks announced they were going to reboot an age-old cartoon, She-Ra, Princess of Power. Except now, it’s called She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Well, let’s just say the internet and a few others didn’t take that news in good spirits. We’ll leave it at that.

However, regardless of the frustration, the show must and will go on. To that, Dreamworks has released a short teaser for the upcoming reboot. You can check that out below. Once you do, we’d love to know what you thought about it in the comments below.

Now, I’m not a fan on reporting on the news without tossing in a few of my cents. So here we go. I grew up on He-Man and yes, also She-Ra. I’m not 100% on board with the design but I also acknowledge that this rebooted show is not for me. No, it’s not about us grown-ups. We’ve had our turn, instead, this is being catered to the younger generation. The whole empowering the young, discovery and imagination is going to be (hopefully) a hit for the new breed of cartoon watchers.

Will I watch it? Of course, as someone who enjoyed She-Ra in my time, a critic and more importantly, as a father who’ll be watching it with his children. Sure, there’s some mixed or possibly forced diversity involved. But I’m removing that from the radar. Reboots tend to change stuff up and I’m fine with that. You think kids are going to care about that crap? Not very likely, so I’m going to follow that lead. Sure, there’s no way to know if I’ll enjoy it but I’ll say this. So far Dreamworks is battling a 100% when it comes to their reboots. I wasn’t sold on their announcement of Voltron either. Which just happened to become one of my favorite shows on Netflix.

So yes, bring on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I’ll be waiting to watch it with the kids. Just beware Netflix and Dreamworks, they’re harder critics than I am.
