Octopath Traveler Team Is Talking About A Sequel

By Todd BlackSeptember 7, 2018
Octopath Traveler Beginners Guide, Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent, Square Enix

When Octopath Traveler was revealed to the world in the early days of the Nintendo Switch, no one was really sure what to make of it. It was from Square Enix and was a “2.5 HD” RPG, but what that meant exactly was unclear. But through a series of videos and demos, the game got quite a following. And so, when it released on July 13th of this year, the game got a bunch of praise and sales. And within a few weeks, Nintendo and Square Enix revealed that the game had sold over 1 million units.

With this undeniable success, gamers have been eager to see if Acquire (the in-house development team of Square Enix that made the game) would make a sequel to Octopath Traveler, and though we don’t have definite confirmation, we do have an inkling that they’re at least talking about it.

For Famitsu reports a chat with Square Enix’s Tomoya Asano, who noted this about the potential sequel: “As for a sequel, we still cannot say anything concrete yet, but we’ve just started talks on how it ought to be.”

Those who have finished all 8 storylines will note that there were teases to a sequel in the game itself. So the potential is most definitely there. You can check out our review of Octopath Traveler here, as well as our Beginner’s Guide to the game.
