Yacht Club Games Digging Up More Action with Shovel Knight Showdown

By Zachery PaikaiAugust 28, 2018
Shovel Knight Showdown.

Shovel Knight Showdown, a platform fighting game featuring all that is Shovel Knight will be Treasure Trove’s final addition. Shovel Knight Showdown will be made available as a free update for all versions of Treasure Trove, but will not be available at all on the portable systems like Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. It’ll also be made into a standalone game sometime in the future. No exact release dates have been given as of yet.

This upcoming update is shoveled full of new content as well as the old like returning characters and stages dug up from Shovel Knight’s rich history. One-on-one duels, frantic 4 player free-for-alls, cooperative team battles against the AI or your buddies in modes such as Gem Clash, Showdown, and more. Multiplayer is exclusively local and can accommodate 1-4 players. There’s even a fleshed out Story Mode featuring a multistage journey tailored for each character. This journey may have a relaxing minigame or two as well as a new final encounter.

Should be fun to conspire against an unsuspecting buddy in a free for all

Over 16 characters ranging from both heroic knights to villainous knights will be made playable. Most of these knights will be playable for the first time ever in fact. The roster includes Shovel Knight, Shield Knight, Black Knight, The Echantress and every single knight of the Order of No Quarter. Master your preferred knight in the fully-featured practice mode, a newly implemented feature.

Stages of old inspired by Shovel Knight’s characters and locale will be present, as too will a plethora of brand new stages. And accompanying these retro-fitted stages we have new musical tracks composed by Jake “Virt” Kaufman.

Shovel Knight Showdown has balanced and intuitive gameplay that aims to be beginner friendly. Familiar controls, items, and mechanics will all be accounted for too. Take a look for yourself:

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is currently available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, PS4, PlayStation Vita, and PC.

From the Hawaiian islands, Nanaue, the Prince of Sharks first appeared. This shark man was uncontested in terms of video game prowess. His notoriety of being a top-tier game wiz angered the envious locals and eventually forced Nanaue into exile. His hunger for competition and game knowledge grew as time past. This in tow, leads him to delve into the sea of writing and gaming culture.
