Widows Shows Off More Plot In An Intense New Trailer

By Jacob SmithAugust 19, 2018

News of Steve McQueen’s return to big screen endeavors reached fans in the form of a trailer for his new film Widows. Recently we’ve received a look at a new trailer which showcases a bit more of the film’s story. Five years off the Best Picture Oscar-winning picture 12 Years a Slave, McQueen is back with a heist thriller that boasts a vastly different tone than others in the genre. Not only is McQueen breaking down barriers within a genre, but he seems to be stepping outside if his comfort zone as well with this latest title.

The intense trailer features a stellar cast of almost nothing but familiar faces including Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Farrell, and Daniel Kaluuya just to name a handful. The other leading ladies on the team include Elizabeth Debicki, and Cynthia Erivo, who will undoubtedly round out an already strong group of actors.

Widows’ plot follows four women who band together in the wake of their husbands’ deaths, each of which occurs thanks to a bank robbery gone wrong. The untimely passing of the men leaves their wives in a heap of debt thanks to their criminal pursuits, so in an effort to pay off such immense debt the widows team up to tackle the bank their husbands failed to. Using their individual skills and a little outside help, they’ll have to go after the big money if they hope to survive

Written by Gone Girl screenwriter and author Gillian Flynn, the movie is only further flexing its all-star lineup of talent with this additional credit. You can check out the trailer for the gripping thriller below.

A fascinating and unique tale which puts its own spin on a popular genre, Widows will definitely be worth looking out for when it releases on November 16. Head to theaters this winter to see if the outstanding cast, original plot, and renowned direction carry this movie to victory.
