Final Splatoon 2 Splatfest Hasn’t Been Decided Yet

By Todd BlackAugust 13, 2018
Splatfest Splatoon 2

The Splatoon franchise may be one of the newest IP under the Nintendo banner (as it was born on the Wii U which was only last generation), but it’s had a big impact on the Big N and their gaming community. Splatoon 2 has brought a fresh take on shooters, and it’s one that everyone can have fun with. But the most endearing aspects might just be the creation of the Splatfest. These “competitions” put loyal fans against each other in a variety of topics and “What’s better?” scenarios.

Nintendo has already announced that the will be a limit on how many Splatfests there are, but in an interview, producer Hisashi Nogami noted the following on the Splatfests:

“Well, to be honest with you, we actually haven’t decided on a theme for the last Splatfest for Splatoon 2. That’s a good point to mention, that we don’t actually decide the themes for all of our Splatfests ahead of time, but rather we kind of keep a running look of what the community would enjoy and try to make those decisions about Splatfest themes on a real-time basis as we go forward. And so for the last Splatfest for Splatoon 2, we’d like to continue watching what the community might enjoy most, and keep an eye on that as we approach that time as we still have some time left.”

In the original Splatoon, the last one featured a battle between Callie and Marie to see who was more popular. This actually tied into the story of Splatoon 2. Which has left many wondering if the final one here will be Pearl versus Marina from Off The Hook, or maybe, Off The Hook versus The Squid Sisters.

It’s hard to say, but it clearly will depend on who the team think will be the biggest draw. The Splatfest for August has not yet been announced.
