Sega releases the first patch for Yakuza Zero on PC and quickly pulls it

By Keith MitchellAugust 6, 2018
Yakuza Zero on PC log

Sega has released the first of many patches for the PC version of Yakuza Zero. The title while released only last week has amassed a number issues. From sound issues, players not being able to start the game and even crashing mid-game. This patch was created, seemingly very quickly to address those issues. Good for Sega for getting on the ball. Right?

Well, not exactly as the newly released patch had eventually started issues for those who originally didn’t encounter any. Uh oh, that’s not a good look. As such, Sega has rolled back the patch and has stated we’ll know more about another update soon.

Hi all,

While our patch showed no issues in testing, it appears that Patch 1 is causing issues for some users who had no issues previously. Therefore, we are rolling back the patch while we continue to investigate.

Our apologies to all who are experiencing difficulties. We are investigating all issues raised here and will be back with more information soon.

Thank you,
SEGA Dev

Many gamers are pointing their fingers at Denuvo, the DRM that has been known to cause issues in several titles. However, Sega hasn’t come out and stated that is the actual cause. So we’ll just have to wait.

That all said, being a someone who’s been involved with PC gaming for a while now, this is sadly just how PC gaming is. With thousands of hardware configurations, multiple operating systems, updates, drivers and more. It’s damned hard to deliver a game that doesn’t have some sort of issue. I’m confident Sega will eventually fix these issues and deliver a patch that addresses those.

Until then, I’ll have to skip out on playing Yukuza Zero and that’s a shame. I’ve been waiting on this experience for a while now.
