Yesterday it was rumored that Gamestop was planning on ditching their PowerUp Rewards Elite Pro membership. Now we have confirmation that this is in fact happening. And it’s happening sooner than you thought it would.

This membership which hasn’t even been around that long and was created to go toe to toe with Best Buy’s Gamers Club Unlocked. But seeing how that program has been ended by Best Buy, it looks like Gamestop is following suit. They’ve announced that the Elite Pro membership is ending as of August 1st, 2018; Tomorrow.

Current members will continue to get the programs preps until their membership expires. And as now, you can no longer purchase the plan. But of course, you’re welcomed to renew as PowerUp Reward Pro members.

With this gone, as well as the Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked and even Amazon’s 20% on games, it looks like gamers will lose out on more discount programs.

Do these companies think that money just grows on trees? Gaming is expensive and this can only mean one thing; game sales could possibly drop. But will it? We’ll have to wait and see.
