Shadow of the Tomb Raider goes gold, new gameplay footage released

Congratulations are in order for both Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. It was announced earlier today that the 3rd chapter in the rebooted Tomb Raider series; Shadow of the Tomb Raider, has gone gold. A whole two months before the game is set to launch. Which is actually a huge accomplishment, considering you rarely hear about an AAA being finished so far ahead of schedule.

Now the devs can sit back, take a break and admire their work. Or maybe even deliver a demo (please).

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has gone gold! Lara’s defining moment is out of @EidosMontreal’s hard-working hands & on its way to manufacturing. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC/Steam on September 14. pic.twitter.com/6XTwzuMVnP

That’s not all, as 10-minutes of gameplay has also been released. In this never seen before footage, we’re given a look the legendary Inca lost city Paititi. This city will be the hub of the game and you’ll visit it often.

According to Crystal Dynamics, this hub will also be the largest hub in any Tomb Raider title. Yes, that includes the original games as well. Here we’ll be able to barter with local merchants for outfits, weapons and other items. Interact with local inhabitants and learn a thing or two. As well as finding some cool secrets like hidden crypts, challenge tombs and more. Looks like we won’t be getting bored of Paititi any time soon.

The graphics in the game look really really good, damn good. Just seeing this in action, watching Lara traverse the environment is a sight to behold. Super detailed, the lighting is fantastic and just glance at those particle effects that the fire is giving off. Can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Check out the footage in this video.

All in all, it sounds like Shadow of the Tomb Raider is shaping up to be the best entry in the reboot. Which is nothing sort of amazing as I enjoyed the first two games. So I’m fully expecting the same from this title as well. From what I’m hearing from those who had some hands-on with the title at E3 2018, we’re all in for a treat.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC/Steam on September 14, 2018. Now, I don’t know about you but I can’t decide if I’m picking it up on either the PC or the Xbox One X. What about you? What platform are you picking it up on?

But seriously, can we please get a demo? The wait is going to kill us all.
