Code Vein release gets pushed back into 2019

Code Vein Delayed

Sadly, what many of us feared has come to pass. Bandai Namco announced this morning that their anime Action-RPG title, Code Vein, has been delayed. Originally set for a Sept. 28, 2018 release, the title has been pushed back to an undetermined 2019 date.

After several hands-on with the title at various events, it seemed to me that the game did require a bit more polish. For example, the combat was still clunky, the dodge mechanic wasn’t reliable and apparently, I wasn’t the only one to think so. This delay was due to the amount of feedback that Bandai Namco received. I applaud the company for making the hard call and doing what was needed.

CODE VEIN has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of CODE VEIN to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.

Update: Bandai Namco provided another update via a tweet. Check that out below.

So there you have it. Yes, no one likes delays on games they’re looking forward to. However, a game that’s released in a broken state isn’t exactly the best thing. Bandai Namco has done the right thing by delaying the game. Make no mistake, I’m definitely looking forward to the title still.

Hopefully, this delay doesn’t mean that Code Vein won’t be shown off at several upcoming events. Such as the San Diego Comic-Con, Gamescom, and the Tokyo Game Show.

Code Vein will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC/Steam. We’ll let everyone know what the new release date is, that is once we find out what it is.
