Elder Scrolls Online will not require PSN+ but will require Xbox Live Gold

Alright, let’s get this over with shall we. It was released made known that Bethesda’s upcoming Elder Scrolls Online MMO will not require a PlayStation Network Plus subscription however if you want to play it on the Xbox platform then you will be required to have a Xbox Live Gold subscription and apparently it’s a big deal. Wait, hang on guys as this isn’t anything new.

Yes, not only will you have to folk over your paid subscription for both the MMO but also for the Xbox Live Gold subscription and yes it’s quite the chuck of change. However this is not anything new as I’ve said. For those who played MMO’s, wanted to play MMO’s and even companies who wanted MMO’s on the Xbox system, this is standard practice as usual. Those who’ve played Phantasy Star Universe in the day are quite aware that not only did you have to pay for the Hunter’s License but you still had to pay for your Xbox Live account. In fact this is the exact reason why those Xbox only owners can’t even play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn as Square-Enix’s “Naoki Yoshida” has stated he dislikes Microsoft’s stance when it comes to playing MMO’s the subscription fees and the need for seperate dedicated servers when compared to the PlayStation and PC networks being connected.

So yes it stinks but it’s not anything new and sadly I really don’t think Microsoft is going to bend on this especially since this has been in play ever since day one of the Xbox Live service, so Xbox gamers you only really have two options if you really want to play Elder Scrolls Online; Either play it on A PC or jump ship and pick up a PlayStation 4 and play it on there.

Take it or leave it be that’s the way it has to be, sadly.

Elder Scrolls Online will release on 4/4/2014 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac.
